Coal Coast BBQ grew from years of cooking for friends, family, sporting clubs and community gatherings — always believing that food should bring people together and create something memorable.
Travel overseas always seemed to revolve around finding the next great meal, with the ultimate prize being wherever the local workers chose to eat. Some of the best memories came from long tables, smoky kitchens, crowded streets and simple food done exceptionally well.
WHAT MAKES US COOK
Early years working in restaurants including Rockpool and Wockpool sparked a fascination with hospitality, kitchens and the connection between food, atmosphere and service. At the same time, weekends were often spent cooking over fire for friends and family — chasing the perfect mix of music, smoke, chaos, conversation and shared food.
Cooking over fire has always felt honest and instinctive. Good produce, smoke, charcoal, patience and letting time slowly work its magic. I’ve always loved the challenge of finding exceptional ingredients and working with people who share the same philosophy around food, hospitality and generosity
